An early alarm. A warm jacket. A sky you’ll never forget.
Make your first visit feel easier, from choosing a session to finding your way back to the car. This guide helps guests of Jake’s ABQ Stays plan a memorable Balloon Fiesta visit.
Confirm the current event dates, daily schedule, ticket prices, transportation, and park rules on the official Balloon Fiesta website before making plans. Balloon activities depend on weather.

Start with a morning and an evening.
Our suggestion: choose a Mass Ascension morning for the sky full of balloons, then a separate evening glow for the illuminated balloons on the ground. Build a spare session into your visit if you can.
Where to go
Balloon Fiesta Park 5000 Balloon Fiesta Pkwy NE Albuquerque, NM 87113
This is the organizer’s GPS planning address. Follow event traffic signs and attendants to your assigned entrance. The Fiesta office at 4401 Alameda Blvd NE is a separate address.
Morning balloon activities begin before sunrise, so plan an early departure. Evening glows also draw large crowds. Confirm gate opening times and the organizer’s arrival recommendations for your chosen session.
Our advice: allow extra time for traffic, parking, walking, and screening. Ask Jake about your home’s route; ordinary map travel times are not a reliable Fiesta departure plan.
Choose tickets for the morning or evening session you want to attend. Check current prices, age requirements, session hours, and what each ticket includes before purchasing. Park & Ride packages may include admission; read your selected package details.
The program can include Dawn Patrol, Mass Ascensions, special-shape balloons, evening glows, competitions, and entertainment. These activities are offered on selected sessions; check the current schedule to choose your dates.
Watch a small group lift off before sunrise, their burners lighting the darkness. These flights also help pilots observe winds at different heights. Check the current Dawn Patrol time and allow enough time to reach the field before it begins.
The classic big launch fills the sky in waves. It’s a wonderful first-visit choice, with time to watch inflation and launches unfold. Stay clear of balloon fabric, lines, equipment, and crew working areas.
Evening balloons stay on the ground and illuminate together; they do not launch as part of the glow. Special-shape sessions feature imaginative balloon designs; confirm which sessions offer them. Stay for the evening sky shows if your return transportation allows.

Driving & parking.
Before leaving
Check the current parking fee and accepted payment methods before leaving. Parking and event admission may be sold separately. Follow official signs and traffic officers; entrances and routes can change.
Use the organizer’s linked driving map for planning, then follow the actual event routing. Do not try to bypass closures with a GPS shortcut. Use the map for the current event; signs and officer directions take priority.
Our suggestion: photograph your parking-lot sign and gate, save a map pin, and agree on a meeting point. Allow time for the walk and exit queues, especially after evening shows.
Plan breakfast or downtime after the morning instead of a tightly timed appointment.
Rideshare: use the designated event drop-off/pickup routing. Confirm the current designated locations and access routes with the organizer. Expect waits; agree on your return plan before entering.
Park & Ride can help you avoid driving into the park. Review current service dates, remote lot addresses, departure times, fares, and whether your package includes admission. Reserve the exact date and session you need.
Choose an early morning departure for pre-dawn activities. Before buying, confirm boarding instructions, accessibility arrangements, luggage or equipment restrictions, and the last return bus—especially if you plan to stay for evening entertainment.
Our packing suggestions: warm layers, jacket, hat, gloves, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, water, snacks, and a small flashlight. Bring a charged phone, power bank, and saved tickets.
October mornings can be cold and afternoons warmer; check your actual forecast. There is substantial walking on the field.
Expect metal detectors and bag inspections. Pack so belongings are easy to inspect. Leave glass/ceramic containers, alcohol, drones, weapons, and pets at home; trained service animals are permitted. Check the full official prohibited list before packing.
Our suggestions: choose a recognizable meeting spot, photograph the kids’ outfits, and make sure everyone has a contact number. Keep children close around crews and equipment. Give yourself time for food and restroom lines.
For park navigation and facilities, download the official app before heading out.

Weather & rain checks
Wind or other conditions can stop flights or inflation even if the park remains open. Watch the official website/app. Check the current cancellation and rain-check policy for your ticket. Keep your ticket and confirm whether rescheduling requires new transportation arrangements or additional purchases.
Check current accessible parking locations, availability, fees, and lot-to-field transportation assistance. Review the organizer’s ADA map and directions before arrival.
Contact the organizer about your specific mobility needs rather than assuming every bus or route will suit your equipment.
The free staffed Bike Valet is north of the Balloon Museum, reached via the North Diversion Channel trail. Check operating hours; use lights, reflectors, and a helmet for dark arrivals.
Admission does not include a balloon flight. Rainbow Ryders is the authorized park-launch ride provider; reserve separately and follow its check-in instructions.
